The challenges are Scare Your Soul’s foundation. They’re the real-world ways for you to take active, positive steps to harness your fears and push your comfort zone.

Our 400 unique challenges each fall into one of seven buckets, or themes. We call them the “Seven Principles”: Adventure, Awe, Curiosity, Energy, Forgiveness, Gratitude, and Work.

Each challenge is:

  • Actionable – it is do-able, no-or-low-cost, and safe for us and others
  • Boundary-Pushing – it pushes a comfort zone, creating a sense of healthy anxiety (butterflies in our stomachs … you get the idea)
  • Impactful – the action has the potential to unlock a positive result when accomplished
  • Exciting – it generates a palpable feeling of wonder or anticipation

Build Your Courage Muscle

Most people make the mistake of believing that showing your courage means leaping into “big things” — jumping out of airplanes, quitting your job, moving to a new city. But — just like going to the gym to begin training for your first 10k race — at Scare Your Soul we work our courage muscles in small increments.
